Shopfitter features:
Simon led a management buy-out of Shopfitter in 2003 and has updated its entire proposition, developing completely new software that delivers what it promises - pay as you sell e-commerce software. Shopfitter now allows small and new internet traders to create and manage webshops that work well in the search engines, so they can rapidly achieve low cost growth.
The reason he has created such a successful e-commerce solution for small business owners is due to his background in business communications, photography, business TV, multi-media production and creating internet enabled systems for some of the biggest names in UK commerce. For example, he led the creative team that developed the Online Bank for Tesco Personal Finance, and at Bank of Scotland he developed the online communications strategy and produced the Personal Banking website.
Skills in project management and the ability to drive and inspire multi-functional teams have enabled him to successfully complete many large and complex systems.
He has applied the same focus and determination to bringing the benefits
of internet technology to small and micro businesses. He believes that
by applying the principles of retail, married to web design and sound communications
philosophies that any small business can stand alongside, and indeed outsell,
the biggest of competitors.
Simon pulled Valerie onto the Shopfitter board from the outset as he had long admired her abilities as a resourceful and strategic thinker with strong commercial awareness. She has been at the leading edge of the development and application of new products or technologies for nearly three decades. She identified the appeal of financial products in the mid 70s, multi-platform software in the mid 80s, the Internet in the early 90s, and devised the financial model whereby the ISP she ran made substantial profits in the late 90s, building PSINet UK from £2m to £42m.
Her management training at Hill Samuel (Investment Department) has
continually focused her on sustainable profitability and her 17 years
experience in international markets broadens Shopfitter's skills base
as we enable small business owners to reach new markets at home and abroad.
Her skills have enabled her to achieve outstanding results through
communicating appropriately with all levels of management, creative
and technical people.
